Your car should be a '72 pre-L, and the 'book' he may be referring to is
the factory parts manual. In mine, there are not three but seven yellows for
'71 and three for '72, all with different ref numbers by different
manufacturers. But faded 38-year-old paint isn't going to match ANYTHING applied as a
touch-up no matter what the 'factory' source is, and the old codes won't
match modern paints anyway. The only way is to use a portable colorimeter which
will categorize your current paint, and by the time you get through with
some shop that has one, you'll be into the touch-up for many dollars. I'd do
the metalwork and get a spray can from somewhere to touch it up until I could
stomach a complete paintjob by a pro.

There have been a couple of L-bumper repair articles in various POCA
Newsletters over the years, and some Pantera parts vendors now sell a complete
fiberglas front and rear replica L bumpers, pretty cheap.

See above.

The vendors have complete 'kits' for total replacement of all the
components to piece-parts, and most are better quality than OEM was. Barrier hoses,
R-134a freon and front-mounted condensers with compressor cut-off safety
switches.... the list goes on. If you're into the Internet, there's a thread
right now on exactly this subject. Browse to www.realbig.com/DeTomaso and
follow the directions. Membership is free and you might discover something. Good
luck- J DeRyke
