              The following quote is from the organizer of a big high speed
open road rally event in Australia in the early nineties:

        "Ferrari owners are not the same as Ferrari drivers".


        He uttered this less than 24 hours before one of his high profile
owners and participants proved the prophecy of those words, by plowing into
a check point station killing the workers and himself.......

BMW  bills itself as The Ultimate Driving machine.

And lord knows there are tens of thousands that buy into that ad man  
pitch.

But from what I see on the roads, most of them have no clue at all  
what driving is supposed to be about.

Buying the car (sadly) does not impart the skill to use it.
