I've noted that the early Ferrari 360's have come down into the $70K range, so I was getting an idea of what the ownership costs would be.

If your wife complains about how much you spend on your Pantera, show her these numbers:

The cams are driven by a toothed belt that has to be replaced every 3 yrs regardless of mileage. The variators are what advance the exhaust cam. If one breaks the cam stops turning and you bend all the valves. The F1 actuator is what shifts the paddle gearbox. Actually it's more like $13K to fix but I'm deducting some because failures are not super common. Very few clutches last 20,000 miles.

To be fair, any of us could probably do our own annual fluid changes and save $900 per year.

-----------------------

FERRARI 360 SERVICE COSTS for 6 yrs and 15,000 miles . Assuming purchase price of $70K, belts, variators, and annual service recently done.

Belts every 3 yrs x 2 = 6K
variators every 3 yrs x 2 = 1K
Clutch assuming 15M life = 5K
Annual service @ $1K per yr = 6K
Tires x2 @1K each = 2K
Depreciation @10% of value per yr = 33K
F1 pump and actuator repair = 10K

TOTAL 63K-- maybe less if the car does not depreciate as much as the Maserati coupes have.
