They claim that the reduced pressure drop is the result of using a better filtering material, and achieve the same filtration.

The critical question here is whether the pressure drop is less at equivalent micron filtration. It's all about getting a viscous liquid across a fine filtration membrane, the problem is most manufacturers sacrifice filtration fineness to get the lower pressure drop. That may not be all bad, but one should understand the pros and cons.
