Bob,

The master cyl cap has nothing to do with air getting into the "working" part of the hydraulic system.

Make sure that the slave cyl is rotated so that the hose fitting is at the top (highest point), or air will
be trapped inside the slave cyl that will never bleed out.

As Bill pointed out, make sure that the flex hose to the slave is not a soft material.  Use either the 
original hard plastic line or a replacement ss line or hose.  There was a post on the PI forum awhile back
from a guy that had clutch release problems.  He had replaced the original red plastic line with a 
new Aeroquip hose.  I looked up the specs for the hose, and it was a soft, low pressure hose.  I
posted the info and suggested that he go with a hard line of ss hose.  The guy even posted that he 
could see the hose moving when the clutch pedal was pushed in.   He kept trying all sorts of things, 
but nothing worked.  About a year later, he posted that one day the hose blew off of the fitting. 
He replaced the hose with a stainless one, and, you guessed it, problem solved.
