All,

Agreed the stock driveshafts are more than up to their task, and with the availability of stock u-joints at
reasonable prices, there is no need to not use them.

However, Mike is wrong in part of his statement.

The replacement u-joints sold by Hall Pantera back-in-the-day DID NOT require any modification of the
stock driveshafts. The driveshafts and u-joint flanges were not touched at all.

The Hall u-joints had a smaller cup diameter than the OEM units. This undersized issue was overcome by the use
of a thin collar for the cups to increase their outside diameter. While this solution did not always give long life, and could
perhaps result in deformation of the flanges if the sleeves failed and the cups started deforming the flanges, this was a case-by-case issue.

If your car has the sleeved u-joints, and the stock flange diameters are not damaged, then there is no reason the newer
stock-sized u-joints will not again work just fine in those units.
