P.P.S.   I just realized why this is so screwed up.   You're talking about 
hooking up the wires BACKWARDS from the way the distributor rotor rotates!   
Could you possibly be making this any harder on yourself??? :>)

I assume you have a Windsor.   The firing order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 and the 
rotor turns counter-clockwise.
