Hi Dr.

Frank asked me to get this to you and the forum. He seems to think his attempt failed.

Chuck:  Don't buy a Carter electric pump.  The three that I bought didn't work out very well.  The first on that I bought through Summit was recommended due to the fact that it was internally regulated to produce between 5 to 7 psi.  I plumbed it all in with stainless line and therefore was stuck with this particular pump.  When I turned the pump on it jumped to 4 psi waited about 2 seconds and then pegged an 18 psi pressure gauge.  Fuel everywhere and minor carb damage.  The resulting call to the manufacturer got me another pump which they recommended that I put a by-pass line from the inlet to the outlet side of the pump to take care of what they saw as a deadheading problem.  Pump made 2 psi.  Disconnected the by-pass, pump made 2 psi.  Wasted day unless you consider TIG welding practice on some 3/16 inch line a good thing.  Third pump made between 2.5 to 3.5 psi.  Got to find a good pump and start re-plumbing my fuel system.  Frank

Dear Forum,

I will be buying a new fuel pump soon.  I don't like the
Holleys.   The only one I had was a continual headache until its unnaturally
early demise (but not at my hands----it died naturally of poor quality).
I need 40 gallons per hour capacity.   Carter doesn't seem to make one of
that capacity that I can find on Summit's site.   Mr. Gasket is an option,
but I wonder if it has a better reliability record than Holley.   Any
comments or opinions?

                                  Warmest regards,  Chuck Engles
