What's fascinating is to see the same thing, 15 years later, from the 
perspective of a Porsche 956 with Derek Bell at the wheel, and see how much 
faster everything became:

First lap is without narration; second lap then gives context.

This was pretty much the high-water mark at Le Mans; shorly afterwards they 
started to institute chicanes etc. in an effort to slow the cars down.
