[DeTomaso] Wheel Question

The Toyo Proxes S/T in a 295/50-15 size has some bulge to the sidewall, but not
much. No more than most typical tires of the last two decades, and a LOT LESS
bulge than the formerly popular 305/50-15 Euro TA's that everyone in
Pantera-land drove around on for the last 10-15 years.
The current fashion rage is to have a vertical sidewall with little or no bulge.
And, 24"-30" wheels with rubber-band tires are fashionable too, but lets pray
that fashion faux-pas doesn't catch on in Pantera-land!
But enough of my opinion. Read the spec from Toyo (linked below) on the Proxes
S/T. The recommended rim width is 8.0"-10.0". An 8" wide rim is at the bottom of
the acceptable size limit and 10" is at the top of the acceptable size limit.

If you want to see what the 295/50-15 Toyo's look like on an 8" Pantera wheel,
go to the PI board and search for 'Proxes' and you'll find a ton of pictures.
Cheers!

Duh! A 295 has a section width (not to be confused with tread width) of
nearly 12"! Put that on an 8" wheel which has an outside width of 9" and you
end up with a tire "bulge", or overhang, of 1.5" on both sides of the wheel,
roughly the thickness of a 2 X 4! That is completely outside the parameters
of most tire manufacturers recommendations.
