Vegas (or a third, yet-to-be-determined venue) isn't out of the question
but the logistics involved are daunting; if a location was chosen now, it
wouldn't be practical to really put anything into place until 2012. Given that
Pantera owners (myself most especially included) are notoriously cheap and
refuse to pay full price for a hotel room, the list of suitable venues is
incredibly short. At a minimum, the location has to have:

1) A cheap hotel subsidized by a casino, with room availability at a
given time
2) A racetrack, reasonably affordable, with availability at the same time
3) Proximity to a sizeable number of club members

It's easy to find a location that fulfills two of those three criteria.
But other than Vegas or Reno, who can think of another place that satisfies
all three?

Even if such a location is identified, we would then need local club
members willing to help plan and execute the event--another not-insignificant
challenge.

The various volunteers who stage the Fun Rally (and numerous associated
events like the track event) work hard to make it look easy. But just a bit
of reflection will reveal that it's bloody hard work....

P.S. The "Numerous people commenting" thing is how we got to Reno in the
first place. We had 'numerous people commenting' that they were tired of
going to Las Vegas and wanted a change. They voted with their feet and
stopped coming to Las Vegas. So, we changed, for them. Only a tiny fraction
of those people then followed through and attended the event in the new
location. So my opinion of the "they oughta" crowd is rather dim at the
moment....
