[DeTomaso] more on pushrod guide plates

Justin,

I had the negative comments about Manley guide plates.  They are on 4V heads, and the Manley plates were a lousy fit, but also, the step on the intake valve side is so close to the rocker arm stud that I couldn't get an 11/16 deep socket on the stud.  I have ARP studs that are suppose to be torqued to 65 ft-lbs, and even tripple nutting them was only marginally enough to break them loose or torque them.

I also have Comp Cams lifters and rockers, so I suppose there could be something about the rockers?  Or maybe it's a quality control thing and hit or miss?  But being able to get the deep socket on the Comp Cams plates was a big plus to me.

Ken

someone just wrote about how manley guide plates did not fit right, but the comp cams did.  I have CHI heads and roller rockers and found the comp cams guideplates to be unuseable - dont fit at all.  i think the manleys fit fine for me, with 3/8" pushrods.  just a word of warning.  pushrod guideplates are a challenging fit for cleveland engines.  Dave storlein, a noteable cleveland builder confirmed the same to me.  justin
