The a-arms come out easily, once you release the steering tie-rod ends, the
6 ball joints and the two lower pivot shafts. Then you have 16
steel-sleeved rubber bushings to drive out. The inner steel sleeves press out in a vise
using sockets as pushers & receivers but its far easier to do with a 10-ton
hydraulic press. The rubber bushings also press out once you cut away the
big washers on one end of each stock bushing. That leaves the outer steel
sleeves pressed in the a-arm sockets, but depending on which poly bushings you
order, some fit INSIDE the steel sleeves so you're done disassembling right
here.
Some bushings fit in the bare a-arm sockets. If you order the latter type,
its very difficult to press out the remaining thin steel outer sleeves
because they are slightly larger than the a-arm sockets. Some split each sleeve
with a chisel or sawblade; shops cut the washers off both ends of all 16 and
have special bushing-pushers & receivers made up. The outer sleeves are
pressed in pretty tight; figure on spending all weekend on this. Look at the web
pages on Panteraplace.com before starting this an immobilizing your car.
Good luck- J Deryke
