[DeTomaso] control arm bushings

Dear D,

The removal of the a arms can be done by an amateur mechanic. Be
sure to check on line or written references for the trick access to the
front lower a arm rearmost bolt.

Once the a arms are off, then comes the headache of removal of the
old bushings. There are several techniques. I took mine to a mechanic who
removed them. That is the worst part.

With the bushings out and the a arms all cleaned up to your
preferences, then you can fit the new bushings. Two basic choices: stock
rubber or polyurethane (and delrin). I can't advise you about the
installation of the rubber bushings. The poly bushings are very simple to
install. After you survey the choices you might inquire about special
offset bushings for the front a arms that increase positive caster for
better handling. I believe that Pantera Performance Center has them and
perhaps other vendors do too.

Installation of the a arms with the new bushings is the reverse of
removal. It is a straight forward job except for dealing with the old
bushing removal. Good luck and good wrenching.

                      Warmest regards, Chuck Engles

What is the recommended bushings to use on a 74 GTS, and how difficult is
it to do at home in your garage? Where is the best place to purchase?
