Bob,MD,Jim,

5481's new heart was beating at 11:30AM today. No leaks or smoke. Now to put the rest together and it will be off to SORC tomorrow morning, only 1600 miles.

Jim and I look foward to meeting some fellow Pantera brothers.

I'll be interested to talk to you about your 3" exhaust when we get to Arnold. Sounds like you're cooking along on the car. Looks like Frank has decided to trailer his car all the way to Arnold instead of driving it there from Topeka - just in case he has any trouble @ the race. So, we'll have a caravan of P-cars with one on a trailer. Oh well.

Good to hear Mark! Hope the install goes well - keep me informed. Looks like you & Frank both are cutting it close in having your cars ready for the race. Of course, Frank has had a freak'in YEAR to get his ten year+ restoration finished so he didn't have to drive his wifes' Porsche (FAKE Pantera) again this year!! :o((

Yea Mark, there's one small gas station in Arnold but I think all they have is 87 & 91 octane. Better get some when you hit town as they sell out quick & it takes them awhile to get another load in. Last year when we left for home on Sunday AM they were all out of 91 octane so I had to run some 87 - Really SUCKED!! :o((

Bob,
I believe the we are running in the 120MPH class. Have to check on that. I'll be bringing plenty of gas. By the way do they sell 93 or 92 octane gas out there?

Thanks,
Mark

Mark,
Never have checked the fuel @ any of the races there so far - didn't notice that part in the rules? Normally, there is a guy there selling 110 octane gas before the race & I normally throw 5 gallons in my car. You do need to have your own 5 gallon jug & a funnel ( if your car doesn't have the outside filler) to put it in your car though. I can't imagine them testing everyones fuel - they usually have your tech inspection over in 5-10 minutes & out the door. Usually it's a very casual going over of your car if you're in the lower speed classes like we are. If you're in some of the higher speed classes it may be a little more looking over of your car but I'm sure you'll easily pass with flying colors. BTW, I've forgotten (CRS??) what class you are running in??

Bob (who may have to borrow a 5 gallon jug from you)  :o))

Bob & MD,

The tech rules state a max of 103 octane.  Do they do checks and if so how. I was planning on adding some 110 octane gas to the mix.

Shouldn't need to bring anything special I can think of right now - will let you know if I remember anything special you'll need. Cory Peterson ( the owner of the trailer we'll be in) always has it stocked with the necessities before we arrive & I talked to him last night & he's ready for us to move in when we hit town. Bud & Frank will undoubtably be there waiting at the trailor for you & will get you guys bedded down & familiar with town. My son & I should be there in the AM Thursday. Plenty of room @ the trailer for your car trailer or you can park it up @ the Community Center that is only about a block away. We're all getting pretty excited about meeting you & Jim & running the race itself !!

Bob,
Thanks for arranging the accomodations. Is there anything that we should bring that we will need based upon your prior experience?

I'm picking Jim up in Omaha at 2:30 -3:00pm on 8/11. I think it's about 3 hrs to Arnold from the airport.

We are going to have a great time.

Thanks,
Mark

Mark,
Accomodations are all set up for the 6 of us. You & Jim will be staying in the infamous "Hunting Trailer" with my son & I and Bud & Frank will be holed up at a farmer friends' house a short distance from our trailer. That way Bud & Frank (who never stop talking) will be able to talk themselves to sleep each night & we don't have to listen to it!!  :o)) I'm sure we'll get a fill of their unending jabber with all the time we spend with them @ Jim's Bar in between times! BTW, our schedule calls for Frank to trailer his car to Topeka on Tuesday the 10th & stay with me overnight. Then Bud will come down Wednesday AM & we'll caravan together in our cars up to Arnold. I've got a stop about halfway there & my son & I will stay there overnight with Bud & Frank heading on up to Arnold & arriving Wednesday afternoon. My son & I will drive on up on Thursday morning & get situated in the trailer ready for you & Jims arrival. I'm listing all of our cell phone #'s
below FYI but unless you are on Verizon you can hang up any hope of reception out of Arnold. Give me an idea of your schedule so we can coordinate arrivals - OK? See 'ya soon!

Bob     Cell - 785-478-9360
Frank   Cell - 615-604-8695
Bud      Cell - 785-305-0357 (don't think he's on Verizon) :o(

Mark,
We're still checking on accomodations in Arnold for you & Jim - should know something soon. Also checking with friends in Arnold about the closest place Jim could fly into. Just wanted to let 'ya know we're not asleep on the job!  :o)) How's the work on your car coming along??
