FWIW, I think that trying to build a muffler system by eye, without 
experience, is futile. You're trying to modify a pair of existing mufflers the size 
of kid's lunchboxes, run 400+ bhp worth of exhaust & noise thu them and get 
a tolerable amount of noise out the ends along with extra horsepower. 
Factories spend months on the dyno with myriad designs doing this. I hope you're 
lucky but it sounds like there's a clean-sheet-of-paper design in the future 
for this project... or (easier) Magneflows with siliencer tips. Which is 
what I'll be using since I outgrew the noisy muffler thing in high school.
