Michael, your idea makes sense for all involved. I actually started a
'registry' in the mid-80s (OK, it was a simple Excel list of info on about 150
cars) when I met Bill Van Ess in '90. He had around 200 cars -mostly different
from mine- on HIS list, and had done work with the Shelby Club on their
'official' registry. So I gave him all my info and he went from there. It still
took him several more years for the first and only edition in '94. Bill
started compiling info for a second edition around '97, but life got in the way
of that effort. Don't know if any of his 'new' info is still valid.
Besides the excellent points you make, my early efforts were much simpler:
I wanted to remember wrecked car's serial numbers so retitled rolling
bondo-sculptures didn't work their way back into the club. This did happen to at
least two former Nor-Cal members, who lost mucho money. Maybe a meeting of
minds will occur on this, maybe not. But one can hope.
