[DeTomaso] brake master cyl still bad?

Dear Jim,

I agree with your experience. I have found the best method for me
is to use SpeedBleeders on the bleed screws and it becomes a wonderfully
easy one-man job that is more effective. FWIW.

                  Warmest regards, Chuck Engles

I have a vacuum bleeder, but find it is not as good as having a human push
the pedal down in concert with opening and closing the bleeder.
This is because there is so much vacuum loss around the threads of the bleed
screw that not much is left to actually suction the fluid through. And all
that leakage causes a constant stream of bubbles to appear in the bleed
tubing so you have no idea if you actually still have air in the line or
not.

Jim

It seems to be really hard to get all the air out of the Pantera brake
ystem. I had the same problem after rebuilding mine. I finally bought a
acuum bleeder and that did the trick.
Good luck,

o after rebuilding all my calipers and switching back to DOT 4 fluid, I
ound the brake pedal would just go all the way to the floor with only mild
esistance, while making a swooshing or mechanical wheezing sound.
took the master cyl to the local Napa store but we were unable to identify
hich new one would replace it, so I sent it out for rebuilding.
Brought it home, bled all the lines, and the brakes are doing exactly the
ame thing-- pedal behaves in same way (engine not running).. No change in
luid levels in the reservoir, no leaks. There was no fluid at the pushrod
nd of the m/c when I took it off before.
AFAIK there are 1.0 possibilities-- the master cyl main seals are letting
he fluid pass from one chamber to the other inside.
hich means the "rebuild" job wasn't done at all or was done poorly.
Any other ideas?
Jim
