 I find it interesting that the build date of the car was 4/73 and has the early style
dash.

The simple answer is that DeTomaso rarely threw anything (worthwhile) out.  

My Euro GTS was built in 1/73 (#5186) and has the later style dash (fiberglass not molded)
but they both have the same two piece console with raised shift cover plate.

  Even though my car serial number is 62 units before this one, my engine block number is
only 4 less (5142) than the block in that car.   I guess the relationship of engine blocks
to bodies was more random than sequential.

What I like is the trunk insert with the see-thru sections.  It was quite sturdy 
too!
Interesting color, the photos don't really do it justice.

Although the guy liked the shape of the front L bumper, he didn't like the 
rubber, 
so he had one made from steel (stainless?).
