[DeTomaso] Race trailers

I'm from Texas so I hear ya on the heat and humidity! I just like having a bench especially for the vice.

As far as trailer size. Always get the biggest trailer your budget and tow vehicle will allow. Space in a trailer is like HP you never wish you had less!

A work bench is always nice and a vise is also handy no doubt, but if it was a budget issue and required a 24" longer trailer purchase to accommodate, I'd pass. I owned both and still own one with cabinets, bench, etc. Like all decisions it is one where money solves the need to choose at all. Road racing unlike dirt tracks is a daytime activity, you do 90% of everything outside where it is cooler and well lighted by sunlight, even under a tent. Now if the racing were dirt track late models etc. Then advising a well lighted interior workspace/bench that was bug free would be a no brainier, just my years of experience knowing that few people elect to be cooped up in a dark hot stuffy trailer like a hermit when you can sit outside in the shade and catch a breeze and still feel like you are at the races. My experience. Is all based in the hot and humid south, if I had a John Force caliber trailer/hauler and were in the Midwest or NW, I'm sure I would give it more consideration. Michael Shortt

Michael's advice below is pretty good, the only thing I might disagree with is the work bench. I like a work bench mounted in the trailer and would recommend fitting it with a small vise.

The other bit of advice I would add is that just like restoring a car you can buy someone else's already rigged out trailer a lot cheaper than you can build your own!
