[DeTomaso] aero test methods

Sounds messy.Whether it's oil or a mix of stuff.You'd likely keep finding that stuff for years later.Hey Chuck can you please post any photos of the paint aero test article you spoke of? I don't get that rag.Thanks,Matt3584The paint-it approach was used as recently as last Summer in F-1. There is 
currently a complete ban on on-track testing. Desperate to get some aero 
data on their uncompetitive car but not willing to show their results, McLaren 
used a thick oil on certain parts of the body during practice, ran a lap or 
two, then came in the garage and closed the doors. They turned off the 
inside lights and used an ultraviolet light to see the airflow results in the 
oil- just as Chuck describes. A quick wipe-down, the doors opened and the car 
went back out to run again. Its aid there are no secrets in a billion-dollar 
race series but this one lasted almost 8 months before word got out.... 
magically, the McLaren did improve by season's end. FWIW- J Deryke
