Has anyone ever had mufflers rebuilt?

My GTS ( I think that is what they are.) mufflers look great and are welded to the header pipe.  I have had them since 1975, about 35,000 miles on them.
They are getting noisy.
I like everything about them except the sound is getting a bit much.

I can drive down the main street of my town in second gear and make car alarms go off.
