[DeTomaso] Bulkhead Reduction Kit

The bubble on mine was part of the one-piece bulkhead which is made of fiberglass. I simply cut out the bubble (and subsequently sold it on ebay for $35.00!) and fabricated my own piece to replace it. I used the "inner" reduced bubble, (which was part of the entire flat-bulkhead kit I got from a vendor, sans bulkhead), and built it up with cardboard and then fiberglass to fit in the hole left in the bulkhead after I removed the original bubble. I designed it so it would be removable without having to remove the entire bulkhead.

I then had Gary Herrig cover it in leather. He did a fantastic job, and also said it was such a pain in the you-know-what that he'd never do anything like it again...

Sincerely,

Chris

It seems like you could do that inexpensively with your old firewall, and modify and recover the bubble only. Then you get the convenience of just removing the bubble and the extra leg room.
