Kirby,

 

I can't take all the credit, the initial idea came from a post on www.GT40s.com, although that guy used a rubber expanding stopper in the pump snout opening after removing the shaft.

 

The blanking plate appeared to require a lot of replumbing, especially in a Windsor wet intake system with bypasses plus heater hoses etc. The water pump was surplus at this point anyway and it was one of those Ford Motorsport ones that the impellers usually fall off, so worthless :>)

 

In a 351C I could see advantage in doing it this way so you retain the internal bypass via the water pump housing.
