[DeTomaso] Paint

I had siilar issues matching my '74 green on two occasions;

When I first got the car it had a ding in the roof, so I wanted to repair it and repaint the roof only. The original paint code provided a good match only when I went to Sherwin Williams and had them micx up Acrylic Enamel.

This most recent time I intend to repaint the whole car but want to keep the color the same. The paint supplier couldn't produce anything close enough for partial painting from the color code and I assumed in most it was due to fading on the car. So I took the hood into the paint supplier and they color matched from that, but only after a lot of swearing and a couple weeks of tweeking did they get it right, so I had a full gallon mixed up while I was there.

Most reputabe paint suppliers can color match from a sample or panel.

Bill Gaino can chime in on the paint compatibility issues as he's a body repair specialist, but I don't think it should be an issue if preparation and priming/sealing is done correctly.
