[DeTomaso] How easy to pull a ZF vertically using an overhead beam?

I was planning to lift it with some kind of winch attached to a beam, not muscle it out.  It hurts my back to just think of trying to lift it over the fenders.

Yes. Even with the deck lid on.
I've done it myself several times.
Remove halfshafts, shift rod, rear mounts, bellhousing bolts, clutch slave, etc.
Support rear of engine with a 2x6" piece of wood under pan.
Slide ZF and bellhousing out and lift out of car. Easier to do it with
a 'cherry picker', though...
Hard on the back lifting it out by hand, although I've done it that way.

Yes, absolutely no issue as long as the rear of the engine is supported.
Otherwise, the engine wants to drop at the rear.
