[DeTomaso] Clutch woes in Asa's garage

Asa Jay,

My GT5 has the CNC 3/4" master and when I first got it I spent some time going through similar issues of marginal clutch disengagement. Look at it from a simple hydraulics standpoint; A 3/4" Master with a typical stock 1 1/4" stroke will only throw a 1" bore slave by 15/16" so you are already against the wall as your stock slave has a potential max stroke of 1 5/8". Tpoobtain more slave throw you can increase the flow of the master cylinder (larger bore and/or longer stroke) or decrease the bore of the slave.

Adding a 7/8" bore long throw slave will get you back to 1 1/14 throw on the slave but IMO the best ratio is a stock style 1" or 7/8" master (bore that is you can opt for any type of bling unit you like) coupled to a 7/8" bore slave for a 1:1.14 or 1:1 respectively, that is assuming you have the pedal effort reduction kit of the later cars.
