[DeTomaso] Thermostat question

I may be all wet here, but...

When I was examining the block passages and the water pump passages,
it appeared to me the heater routing could be considered an effective
bypass, albeit a much longer one. Hot fluid comes out the block right
next to the thermostat, this is at the same potential as the
thermostat outlet. Instead of fluid going down the hole of the bypass
restrictor plate, imagine it's totally closed off with a plug but the
thermostat is closed. Fluid exits the block to the heater core and
comes back in at the waterpump inlet.

Can someone check me on that?
