Asa,
I had my stat stick the first time I replaced
the radiator, hoses, tubes and water pump.
filled the hole interior up with steam... I drilled
the stat as many have done to let water thru when
filling and to help get rid of bubbles prior to starting
Problem was I hit a corner of the stat and it would
not open..... I know what a pain it is to drain down
again to get to it... keep the back end up in the air
so most of the fluid will stay in the tubes and radiator
