[DeTomaso] Portefield Brakes - Incredible Support

I wanted to let the list know about the support I received from Porterfield Brakes.
My brake shop installed brake pads from Porterfield that were too thick and caused the Dot 3 brake fluid they used to boil over during hard braking at Buttonwillow Raceway,
I contacted Porterfield and was put in touch with Tim, (their VP, I believe) who asked me to measure the pads. When I gave him the measurements he said it was their mistake and they had sent pads that were too thick.
I think it's been at least a decade since the last time I've ever heard a business take responsibility for an error. In this case the error was compounded by my brake shop, who should have known better than to install pads that were so thick they made contact with the rotors while cold. Nevertheless, Porterfield stepped up.
I had a short track event coming up with the Porsche Club Saturday on the infield at Fontana to qualify for my race license and there wasn't time for shipping, so Tim sacrificed his Saturday morning, drove all the way up to Fontana, searched me out and spent the better part of the morning swapping out all four of my brake pads and then bleeding the brakes (I had replaced the Dot 3 with Motul synthetic the previous night but still had a soft pedal).
The Beast stopped well on this short track event and then the following day when I joined the Cobra Club on the big track at Willow Springs.
I passed the qualifying and should soon receive my Porsche Club race license and then recorded my best times ever at Willow.
So, not only did Porterfield step up and take responsibility, they replaced the pads for no charge AND spent a Saturday morning installing the new pads.
I went from being disappointed to being a customer for life.
I've never endorsed a company or vendor on The List but I definitely wanted to share this experience.
