[DeTomaso] Possible steal of a deal?

My experience:

1)  bought what appeared to be, and the seller claimed, a solid car with all metal repairs.  After spotting issues had it stripped, probably $10K + metal repair needed if done at a shop (learning to weld in my spare time)

2)  bought what still looks like a very sound car.  The seller (a client) bought it through PIM about 11 years ago, and thinks they told him it was a good car.  He spotted some issues, started throwing $s at it, and $22K later had a sound car with good paint.

Basically, because the metal rusts from the inside out, it can look great, and need thousands in repairs.

I'd have someone use a screwdriver to whack the bejeebers out of the underside.  The guy had I do my framework did that on my car, and lo and behold, the screwdriver went right through the undercoating in several places where the frame had rusted into oblivian and all that was left standing was the undercoating.

I see rust in the pictures of this car, and like an iceberg, a little rust showing on a Pantera means a lot of rust you can't see.

$3500 of frame work later I still have more frame work to do on mine.  In my three years of Pantera ownership, I've decided a 100K-mile Pantera for 23 grand will probably need another $50,000 to be all straightened out.  Much better to buy one that's already been refurbished by a POCA member

Sincerely,

Chris
