Ken Personally I think Mike answered our question for us. There are already
a bunch of Rear deck lids with ridges so we should offer the early style
with out the ridge. most of the available components for Panteras are more
valuable when they are early models, Plus it's no big deal to add a ridge to
the mold . It's as simple as running a piece of a plastic strip the same
dimensions as the ridge on the later model to the metal deck lid and make
another female mold. I also think a major point here is if this is going to
be made out of the new material it is going to be stronger and lighter then
the other fiber glass deck lids on the market . Also Mike Drew is a great
guy but he is a Pantera purist. He dose not believe in upgrading anything on
a pantera unless it is something like his headlight relays. He does not
believe in changing the appearance or doing anything to make it look more
modern. If it is something that did not exist in 1971, 72, or 73 and it's
going on a pre L or L he is opposed to it. I believe we are going in a
completely different direction.. Have you seen the rear deck lids that have
had the vent slots cut into them? There are real functional and very help
full modifications that can be done to supply cool air for the engine which
will boost Horse power and there are modifications that can help the engine
compartment stay a whole lot cooler. I also believe the underside of the car
is the area of greatest lack of attention. There are things we could do that
would tie into the rear deck that would contribute to air flow and reduce
lift that would work around the rear deck lid. Like a rear diffuser. With a
guy that has a fiberglass body factory and a new material that may be better
then carbon fibre and his emphasis and experience has been on race cars I
think we have a brilliant resource right under our nose ( or more accurately
under your nose.
