FWIW, I've seen a few customized Panteras in which the dash was reupholstered, covering up the original rivited VIN plate. I've also never heard of anyone being ticketed for this, probably because its so easy to pop the hood and show the toe-box number, and because DeTomasos are so rare, cops generally don't even know what it is.
