[DeTomaso] scissor/mid-rise lifts

I'm looking into lifts again. No post lifts as I don't have the room and want some portability.
After researching dozens of websites and the archives I am a little confused. They all claim to be the best and some have shipping included,some don't. Prices anywhere from $1399 to $1799(negligible).
That being the case it's a matter of which is the best built lift for use on the Pantera. The minimum height with pads runs about 4-3/4in. - 5in. so I already figure I'll need some boards to enable a drive on.
My concerns are:
1.Stability
2.Safety
3.Quality(US built or China)
4.Price

Can anybody please share their experiences with these things? Recomendations?
