[DeTomaso] Adjustable spring rates.

Decades ago, one of the Nor-Cal guys who was a pro mechanical engineer, 
decided to do this in the rear of his Pantera. He mentioned he was astounded at 
how easy it was to make a REgressive spring-rate system- where the rate 
decreases the more motion occurs, and how difficult it was to make a 
PROgressive rate where the rate INCREASES as more motion- like running over a larger 
bump- occurs. Naturally, a progressive system is far more desirable. As I 
remember, after several tries with different linkages, he gave up- due mostly 
to lack of adequate room for all the neccessary links in the rear of the 
tightly packed Pantera. Good luck- J Deryke
