Well, there you go!   Anecdotal evidence that the urban legend may be 
true--that's what I'm after. :>)

Do you know the source of the springs?   If they were Italian, then that 
stands to reason.   The ones I've seen lately are silver in color, as opposed 
to the hardened black of the stock ones.
