[DeTomaso] zf oil?

In my humble opinion this is debatable.
The ZF actually has two lubrication requirements-- one for the synchros and one for the limited slip plates. If you use a very slippery oil designed for LS diffs you will not have enough friction for the synchos to slow the gear set before engagement and will get crunching. Back when I used Valvoline 80W90 the bottle said "suitable for LS diffs". .

This topic was discussed ad nauseum on the Ferrari boards because any transaxle with LS diff will have the same issues

The general opinion is that you should start with Red Line 75W90 NS (which has little or no LS additive) and if you get LS "chatter", which sounds like a moaning or groaning noise when turning sharply, you should add small amounts of Red Line LS additive until the groaning stops.

I must say that when I changed from Valvoline to Red Line I didn't really notice much difference in how the car shifted, but I have always treated it with respect and not slam-shifted it. However, if I were filling a newly rebuilt ZF I would spring for the few extra bucks and go with Red Line.

You should be fine with any good quality 80-90 weight gear oil.
Synthetics may cause seals to leak a bit more. Due to the nature of the
limited-slip, no LSD additive is required. Quality gear oil is all you need.
I
typically use Castrol, but I've used Valvoline too.

The most important thing is to change it periodically. The book says
initially after 4000-5000 km, and then after 16000-20000 km. Also, change it
ever 2-3 years regardless of mileage.
