You didn't miss anything.

I said that because I didn't know that the newer starter solenoids draw  13 
amps.
 
The thought was how to get rid of the OEM solenoid. If you  want to dump 
the OEM solenoid, and you don't want to route the new starter  solenoid 
current thru the ignition switch, you will be well advised to install a  relay.
 
I will keep my OEM solenoid when I (finally) install my DB  starter.
 
Thanks for the starter solenoid data. I'll add it to the  database.
