[DeTomaso] Electric Water Pump redux

Kirby,

How are you running your belts?  I talked to Meziere and they said they have a pump with an idler but it's for flat (not V) belt.

After some discussion in the past regarding Ford Motorsports 'shorty'
water pumps failing and my personal experience of the one that was
originally on my car starting to leak way too soon, I did go with a
Meziere remote electric pump in my GT40 as I said I planned to do.
With the results I've got so far, I plan to do the same with my
Pantera. If I ever get it back....

Some folks asked for an update once I had it installed, so here is the update.

Since installation, I've had no problem at all with the pump.
It is quiet.
It pumps 55gpm.
I've not had any issue with the car overheating since it is always
pumping 55gpm, even when idling.
It costs more than a mechanical water pump.
After doing some laps on the track, you can leave it on and cool down
the engine without it even running.
I run a 130amp alternator and I've not seen any detrimental effects
from the pump taking 'too much power'.
I no longer have a 'hump' in my engine cover. It is completely flat;
nothing protruding into the cabin.

Since installation, I've had the car on the dyno, I've done quite a
bit of street driving, took it to Road America and got on the track.
The cooling system is doing just fine.

For what it's worth,
Kirby
