Very high heat capacity AND the system operates normally at high temps-
which is why they're priced at around $2000 per wheel.... The matching 6-piston
calipers need pads that are compatible with those kind of rotors.
Swapping in iron street-car rotors with carbon/ceramic pads pretty much guarantees
you will destroy both rotors and pads rather quickly. Nowadays, most of the
exotic rotors and pads are sized for 17", 18" or larger wheels, which is one
of the reasons I say that adding big brakes to a Pantera can be quite
expensive, and the needed accessories (giant wheels and tires, chassis braces to
absorb the stesses of such tires, heavier shocks & springs etc) are even
more so! By comparison, the '09 'Vette rotors are 14.2" OD, which is about the
size (if not the wt) of our space-saver spare tires! Cheers- J Deryke
