Sorry, I'm too busy seeing patients in my office so I can fund my own
retirement to write more now.
I'll do some later

Subject: Deserves Healthcare?

I disagree,

I think everyone should have equal -access- to adequate healthcare, but
I don't necessarily believe everyone "deserves" it. To use your own
words, not everyone deserves to drive a Cadillac or BMW, but they CAN
if they want and have the means to do it (usually more money).

Does a person who has voluntarily smoked all their life "deserve" to
get a new lung? Does a person who has voluntarily been drunk all their
life, and probably will continue to be, "deserve" a new Liver?

I don't think so. But if they can find the means to pay for it, fine.
Just don't ask me to PAY for the poor choices someone else made.

I believe the idea that everyone "deserves" adequate healthcare is a
misplaced sentiment, and only works in a responsible society that
doesn't engage in irresponsible actions. Unfortunately we don't live in
a Utopia free of war, crime, hatred and disdain for reasonable law.
Therefore, we will -always- have people who will take advantage of any
and all loopholes they can.

... like the mother who schedules her pregnancies to coincide with her
expiring welfare
benefit, so she can continue to stay on welfare for
the rest of her life (at leat until she can't get pregnant anymore).
Does she really "deserve" the benefit? No, she's "using" the system,
living off the hard work of you and me.

I have to tell you, sometimes I think I should just quit my job, sell
most of my assets and live off the government programs like so many
other folks. Better yet, there's the idea of renouncing citizenship and
becoming an illegal alien in order to get everything for free. That's
not really what I want to do though. I enjoy my job, my family and my
lifestyle. I just get tired of others trying to take from me, just
because I don't live in Robin Hood's forest.

Sorry, kind of went tangent there. Again, I don't think everyone
"deserves" adequate healthcare, but does deserve equal access.
