That's what I think as well, confusion of terms is always a problem on the
web.

Basic rotor types are

solid, unvented, unslotted, undrilled ( a round slab of steel )

slotted, undrilled, unvented ( Recessed lines on the rotor faces, can be
straight or curved )

solid and vented ( vented on the edges, solid faces )

slotted and vented

drilled and unvented ( a round steel slab full of swiss cheese holes on the
faces )

drilled and vented (with both venting on the edges and full of holes on the
flat surfaces )

drilled, slotted and vented

IMHO the best race brakes are Drilled, Slotted and Vented.

The best street brakes are UNDRILLED, Slotted and Vented.

Drilling weakens a rotors, on a race car it doesn't matter because it will
get replaced more often.
But if you are dropping big bucks and want them to last, go with Slotted and
Vented,
leave the holes ...too tempting to finish.

Don't even get into Carbon, unless you drive like a moron on the street, you
will never build up enough heat to use them
to the level that you are paying for the performance.

Now, ya'll can start a thread on pads....
