[DeTomaso] Coolant flow direction

At the risk of beating a dead horse....
Which direction should flow be in and out of the radiator?

The illustration from the Pantera Service Highlights, shows water coming 
from the TOP fitting on the radiator TO the Water Pump Inlet.

SOBills, Gearhead Database, claims the opposite should work better; use 
the BOTTOM fitting on the radiator TO the Water Pump Inlet, because 
water falls and air rises, meaning you'll always pick up water instead 
of air.

What would the consensus be on this?
