In the dirt track engine Gary was then working on, they found instability
at around 8500 rpms that resulted on slightly lower power, but thats only an
indication of incompatibity in some part of the all-aftermarket parts they
were using, not necessarily the stud girdle. Engine dyno tests since then
have shown exactly the same thing at high rpms in Chevys- both big and small
block- as well as other brands, so lets say that up-to-8500, it's OK as a
bolt-on insurance policy. FWIW- J Deryke
