Dear Asa,

Several years ago Gary Roys was on the forum. He is a Detroit automotive engineer and you'll recall he was also on the "gang of four or six" of the old Vegas Rally Committee. This very topic came up and Gary commented that he was personal friends with the inventor of the original stud girdle. He said that as it became a big success R&D continued using it other cylinder heads. Gary said that the inventor (Jomar?) claimed that the *only* cylinder head that did not benefit from a stud girdle was the Cleveland cylinder head..........FWIW.
