All 351-Cs have the same bearings, but all 5 cam bearings are different
sizes, with the largest being the front bearing and the smallest being the rear
one. Additionally, the front bearing has two oiling holes- one for the
bearing itself and the other one transfers a little oil out a drilled passage to
the cam drive gears. A tiny bevel on one edge allows some oil to leak out
the front, lubricating the cam retainer plate. Very complex oiling system.
I was unaware there were three 351-C blocks called out. One may have been
the almost unavailable thickwalled NASCAR block while the other two are
2-bolt-main caps and 4-bolt-main caps. The other guess is, the third may have
been the rare Boss block which was a completely stock 4-bolt block that was
checked for Brinnell hardness before being built into a Boss 351. Ford did
the exact same thing to Boss rods and crankshafts- no essential differences in
the forgings at all beyond the Brinnell dent.
Cheers- J Deryke
