[DeTomaso]   Wheels houses

Dear Dick,

Perhaps I confused the issue. Externally, from the street view, the rear Pantera wheel arches all look round just as Tjaarda designed them. However, inside the engine bay the wheelhouse or wheel tub became "square" due to the changed manufacturing situation when De Tomaso bought the company back from Ford. I hope that is more clear.

                              Warmest regards, Chuck Engles

  Chuck,
I think you are describing the "wheel openings", the shape on the outside sheetmetal.
The "wheel housings" are the the surfaces that are at a right angle to the cars lengthwise centerline that wraps up and over the wheels front to back, sometimes called the "wheel tubs". The shape of the openings and the tubs do not necessarily mirror each other.

  All the best, Dick Ruzzin.
