Subject: [DeTomaso] Tall Guy Seat Problem

I am trying to get my car ready for Reno,  in fact I'd like to leave a week early to drive out to Colorado before heading for Reno.  I was planning to reupholster or replace my seat one of these days.  I drove the car 900 miles in two days back in March.  When I got home,  my tailbone hurt for a couple of days and this was with two inches of temporary foam padding on top of my seat.  I have been driving around town for a week or two with three inches of foam and I now don't think that's going to cut it for a two,  three or four thousand mile trip.  I had found a couple of seat cushions on the internet that looked like a possible temporary solution,  but now I have my doubts as to whether or not they would do much good?  I talked to a local upholsterer about redoing my seat.  He wanted four hundred bucks a seat and I'm not even sure I would be happy with the results?  I have lowered my floor pan by making three cuts in it and just
pressing down on the back of the flap.  I did it this way to avoid removing any more structure from the car than was necessary.  Unfortunately,  this method probably rules out all but the narrowest seats?  Anybody got any good ideas?

Thanks,
Art
