[DeTomaso] Remote oil filter setup

I hadn't really thought about the "weak link" theory.. I was considering the
Ams oil dual" by pass" filter set up. Unlike the "normal" dual filter setup
that  uses two identical filters the 'By Pass" filter set up uses one 'Full
flow " filter that does not restrict oil flow and filters out larger
particles ( up to 5 microns) and a second 'By Pass" filter that only filters
around 10 % of the oil at a time but filters out particles as small as one
micron. So it is not just a redundant  2nd filter.  Using anything
that requires oil to flow outside the engine block has the inherent risk of
leaks and loss of oil and oil pressure. I suppose that needs to be weighed
against the potential benefits bestowed by the oil heat exchangers, oil
coolers or added filtration systems. . I am on Chris's short list to buy one
of the Crown Vic state police car Laminova units, I also want to install
either an accusump or am Amsoil pre oiler. I need to do more research and
would welcome any input from anyone who has experience with either unit.Boyd-
