While a cell phone is handy, depending on your route, there may be areas
where you won't have service. Our favorite route is 88 so from the West side
of Jackson until we can see the lights of Carson Valley, there is no
service. On 80, there are also dead spots. Fortunately, we've never had any
problems in those areas altho once our daughter tried to call us (from south of
Sacto) to warn us of an accident on 80; luckily it was pretty much cleared
up by the time we passed it.

Extra spark plugs are a good thing - we've had that problem altho I drove
around the issue as I did when I lost the front brakes. Extra oil is always
handy as a just in case as can be water. And always carry a pressure
gauge; I'm sure most people do, but I know of one member that didn't use to and
gave his girl friend a very hard ride to Hearst Castle when he'd
over-inflated his tires and only went by sight. Promise me a drink in Reno and I'll
reveal his name. :)

I'll leave Jack to give you any other advice.

Judy
